Responsible Redevelopment
Our Paradise Row development has been led by our belief that historic buildings can be developed to provide modern day, quality living spaces that combine the very best in design, comfort and environmental considerations, whilst preserving the structure, integrity and essence of the original building. We are delighted to announce that the work we have carried out has been awarded with a Band B, Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), the 2nd highest available. The EU regulated and required certificate is based on 3 main criteria:
Energy used per square metre of the floor area
Energy efficiency based on fuel costs
Environmental impact based on CO2 emissions.
The Energy Performance Certificate for this property is a guarantee that each flat is very energy efficient, with low running costs.
The Paradise Row development, which now offers four unique apartments, has been a labour of love, which we hope has produced four homes that their eventual owners will love too.
Because the building had unfortunately been rather neglected, we had to strip the property down to its original structure, walls and staircase, re-using and retaining original features where possible, and then re-develop, integrating modern energy efficient living spaces for the 21st century.
In the process, we have ensured that:
All external walls have been insulated to enhance all round performance in terms of retaining heat and omitting the cold.
Noise pollution is minimised, as all windows have been double glazed, whilst maintaining the timber-sliding sash and sound-reducing insulation has been installed between all apartments.
Both heat loss and heating bills will be reduced due to the 300ml loft insulation we have installed.
There are no communal area electricity charges, due to the Solar PV we have installed on the roof, which generates a clean, renewable energy source that caters for these areas.
We only use responsibly sourced natural materials for all joinery.
Where possible, the services of local trades people and architects were employed.
Each flat is equipped with a gas-condensing boiler with enhanced thermostatic controls.
Insulation between the floors reflects and upholds the individuality and privacy of each flat, despite the development once being a single family home.
We worked alongside the Listed Building Office to preserve the buildings original features, and ensure it retains the feel of a historic building, whilst encompassing modern expectations.
We used Ecos Organic Paints thought; the Worlds only range of solvent free paints.
Where possible, we only used natural timber and stone.
